Note to Tenants
Dear tenants, please do take note of these four things to do regularly during the term of the lease.
1. You need to do your aircon servicing regularly.
If the landlord has a preferred aircon contractor, you should use their preferred aircon contractor.
2. If there is an oven in the house, you need to switch on the oven regularly at least once a month. This is to prevent humidity from accumulating in the oven and causing the oven to trip.
3. After a shower, always ensure that the windows are open so that the humidity escapes from the bathroom. This is to prevent mouldy ceilings.
4. After washing your clothes, do air the washing machine or dry the rubber lining so that the rubber lining does not become mouldy over time.
Note to Landlords
Do you know these three things that you can get your agent to do during the renewal of a rental?
- Get your agent to go down to take a video of some pictures of the house, so that you know the condition of the house.
At the same time, your agent can also check whether any minor repairs need to be carried out during the term of the lease - Check that your account servicing is done regularly. If not, you must immediately ask your tenant to do the aircon servicing.
- Check that there are no unauthorized occupants in the unit.
For example, if the tenant’s parents have come to stay with them, you need to actually do the documentation checks on these tenants. This is to ensure that they have the valid passes to stay on in Singapore
